The cookie itself is perfection as far as just the right amount of chocolaty taste and the crunchiness of the outside of the sandwich. When you separate the outside cookies, break one in half.

When you split the cookie in half, you hear the distinctive snap. You can tell that when you bite into that rich chocolate goodness, you will listen to the crunch with every bite.

If you choose to eat the whole thing at once, the creamy center will mix with the dark sweetness, adding a cushion of vanilla to balance out the pair.

2. You Can Play with Your Food

At first, you see a typical chocolate sandwich cookie, but with a bit of imagination, you can break apart the sandwich, and if you are really good, all of the cream fillings will stay on one cookie.

The other side will be naked, with just a ghost of the former cream remaining. So now the choice is yours.

You can choose to dunk the naked side in the cold milk or lick the icing off the other side. You could make use of a toothpick to create the scenery on the filling left behind. The possibilities are endless.

As with all things, change comes in an effort to make a product better, although I cannot imagine improvement on perfection. However, over the years, many flavors have been introduced like:

These samples don’t even scratch the surface of the flavors of cookies available to suit your palate. For the coffee lover, they have Java Chip, and if you are a chocoholic, there is Dark Chocolate filled.

4. Oreos Are Not Just Cookies

The cookie is so popular that the original version has spin-off products. You can find Ice cream that can be dipped, Ice cream cones, and ice cream sandwiches that are made like the initial cookie, just bigger.

The cookie can be purchased fudge dipped, thin, and sugar-free, and there are cake mixes with the cookies crumbled inside. But that is not all!!! You can actually make edibles with the cookies.

My favorite recipe is Oreo cookie balls with a mixture of cream cheese and crushed cookies that are mixed and molded together and then dipped in chocolate. The outcome is a chocolate lover’s delight.

5. They Work 24/7

No day or time of day is not suitable for an Oreo brake. This cookie never takes a day off and is always there to please. They travel well and come in all-size packages. Just make sure there is cold milk.

You can have your Oreos anywhere, anytime, but always share with someone you care about, or you could make someone’s day and share with a stranger.

Nothing in some of these cookies is considered dairy or animal fat. They used to contain lard in the cream filling, but that ingredient was discontinued in 1997, and plant-based oils are used.

The change from animal fat to plant-based oils has not changed the taste or velvety texture of the center filling. Make sure you read the package because certain Oreos still contain dairy products.

8. Do Not Forget The Milk

There is nothing better than dunking that Oreo in a cold glass of milk, and it seems that the jury is out on how deep to immerse and for how long. Even though you dunk, the outside will stay crispy.

When you dunk, it brings out a flavor that you can’t taste without dunking. The milk fills the crevices without making the cookie soft, finishing with that little bit of milk remaining in the cracks.

Oreos were tried against major brands; Oreos ranked #1 as the most dunk-able cookie. You might need to experiment with a few flavors to see what I mean. It is a difficult job, but someone has to do it!

9. There Is No Guilt

Have you ever had a pack of Oreos and decided to have a serving? Well, a serving is two cookies, but don’t get distracted because before you know it, the pack is gone, and there is no guilt. There is a good reason for this.

Besides the joy of eating the cookie and enjoying it, a chemical called dopamine is released when you eat sweets. The sugar goes into the bloodstream, then to the brain, and then dopamine is set free.

Dopamine is a hormone that is released and causes happiness, excitement, and joy. This release also occurs when you exercise. Also, dark chocolate is directly related to the release of this hormone.

10. Quick Dessert When Needed

One good thing about this cookie is that it is versatile when you need to create a dessert that you will be able to whip up in a flash but looks like you took all day.

You can make “deep-fried” Oreos, which are covered with crescent rolls and baked in the oven. Several recipes include these cookies, or you can make some up yourself.

Crumbled Oreos can be used in parfaits or as toppings for mousse or cakes. There is no limit if you put your brain to work.
